Genevieve Godbout

Having grown up in the Quebec countryside, Geneviève Godbout’s call to the city made itself early. Armed with her multicoloured pencils, she left her native Lévis to study traditional animation at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal. Her love of big cities growing, she continued her training at Gobelins in Paris. Falling under the spell of old Europe, she then lived in London for seven years. Thanks to her favourite mediums: wood pencils and pastels, the illustrator, now Montrealer, has seen her career flourish in recent years.

Her pencil strokes are recognizable from her various publishers which include Tundra Books, Random House, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Harper Collins, Comme des Géants and La Pastèque. Following a win at the Prix jeunesse des libraires du Québec in 2017 with Quand le père Noël était petit, Geneviève Godbout published Bonne nuit Anne, Malou and Gâteau aux pommes.
